Our Massage Courses
5 full days of intensive "hands-on" massage training
We run 5-day workshops in Raynor Massage in 7 countries worldwide. The courses run from 9 am to 5pm from Monday to Friday. Our 5 day Certificate course teaches the basic essence of Raynor massage including all the major parts of the body including the abdominal area. We are massaging from Day 1 of the course and very little time is spent in a non practical way after the 3 hour introductory talk that covers contraindications, hygiene, professional ethics and other aspects of theory associated with Raynor massage. The rest of the course is spent either massaging, being massaged or watching the teacher demonstration and talk through a Raynor bodywork treatment. Many people can't believe how good they feel just from the receiving massage aspect of this course especially if they have volunteered for a demonstration treatment from one of our teachers.

Following the 5 day Certificate Massage Course
The Raynor Massage Diploma Course teaches you more advanced aspects of the bodywork including more practice at the techniques, reflexology of the feet and the hands, an introduction to aromatherapy, which is the use of 100% pure essential oils in your massage. The course culminates in a student clinic where members of the public are invited to attend and receive a session from one of the students. Our student clinic, on the final day (the second Friday) of our course, is also an opportunity for people who are interested in attending one of our courses to attend and receive a $20 massage so that potential students can judge for themselves whether this sort of training is right for them. If you would like to book into one of our student clinics please email us at info@brandonraynor.com. The Massage Diploma Course or Advanced practitioners program is the recommended course for people who would like to enter the massage profession as a career.

Our courses are open to people between the ages of 16 to 75 and there are no prerequisites to do our course, just a desire to learn and a desire to help others through massage. Our courses can involve emotional transformations in people that do require a certain mature perspective on emotional matters.
We also offer Naturopathy courses by correspondence. This course centers on both Eastern and Western approaches to natural medicine and has a strong emphasis on wholefood nutrition, herbal medicine from all over the world, flower essences, Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine and Iridology.

• How is it possible to learn massage so quickly?
Our school provides you with massage training that incorporates all you need to know to become a professional high quality massage therapist in a series of very intensive short courses.
Many massage schools are skeptical about how the Brandon Raynor School of Natural Therapies can train people in such a short period of time. Our answer is simple. Our massage training is hands on, students are not taught in a medical or theoretical way, this is experiential learning. Students learn by demonstration, doing and experiencing. This hands-on, apprenticeship style training develops your actual massage techniques and sense of touch, rather than on classroom theoretical style learning.
Within a matter of days people who have had no previous training are able to feel tension in muscles and begin to eliminate it. Experiencing the treatment allows our students to know how it feels to be on the receiving end of a Raynor massage and to adjust their own treatment based on this knowledge.
Our courses are intensive and practical, we do not spend time in lectures, pouring over textbooks or preparing for written exams but we will recommend further reading for you and we encourage all of our students to take their ongoing professional development seriously. Our graduates are entitled and encouraged to join INTA, the International Natural Therapists Association. INTA members not only need to sign up to standards of professional behaviour but are linked into this central point for information about ongoing professional development and to keep up to date with massage developments.

• More about our massage school
Raynor massage is a cutting edge massage style that takes the best from the various styles of massage from around the world such as Deep Tissue and Swedish massage, Shiatsu, Thai massage, Reflexology, Rolfing, Therapeutic Massage, Ayurvedic and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage. We have taken the best techniques from these styles and combined them into one form. In addition to this we have taken many techniques from chiropractic work, physical therapy and yoga and have combined all of these into one form of bodywork treatment called Raynor massage with a simple goal - to find any muscle tension and blocked Chi in the body and to loosen the muscles and open the meridians or energy channels in the body.
Our formula for teaching, which has proven so popular for more than 10 years and led us to grow from teaching our courses in our lounge room in Brisbane and Sydney to being a major world wide massage school, is very intensive and very much a hands-on approach. It's massaging, being massaged, or watching the teacher doing a demonstration massage from day 1.
Even though our massage is commonly considered the most advanced form of bodywork therapy in the world, it is able to be taught in a very simple and hands on way to enable people to get started as a massage therapist as soon as possible In fact, due to the powerful ability to move the chi in the body and the other techniques incorporated within our technique, many people have commented that what we do is much more than just massage. It is a far more powerful experience than just receiving a normal massage!
• Compare Raynor massage school to other schools
Our approach to massage training is very different to other schools!
Most other schools will begin their training with extensive teaching of Latin terms for muscles and test students on these with written exams. There are no written exams with Raynor Massage's 5-day Massage Courses.
In standard massage courses it is usually much later into the course when students will be allowed to start massaging in a very basic way, usually getting the students to learn Swedish massage in a very simple general routine. They will then learn therapeutic or remedial massage for several more weeks, and near the end of the course, they will learn a few aspects of deep tissue massage, trigger points, or kinesiology. A few rare courses will also cover some very basic oriental techniques such as Shiatsu, acupressure, or Thai massage.
In our massage courses you will be massaging from Day 1 of the course! What we do is take the best and most useful techniques from all the major styles of massage such as Swedish, therapeutic, deep tissue, acupressure, Shiatsu, Thai massage, Ayurvedic massage and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage. We use the best of these concepts and techniques to use within our very advanced, yet simple to learn, form of therapy called Raynor massage.
Brandon Raynor's Naturopathic approach to massage has the consistent and simple philosophy to find any tension in the body and blockages in the chi flow of the body and get rid of them. Raynor massage has the goal of finding every tight muscle in the body and loosening it and uses bodywork and natural healing techniques from across the world to achieve that goal.
• Why is Raynor Massage so good?
The main emphasis in our teaching of massage therapy is to equip the students to feel and find muscle tightness in the body and know how to get rid of it using our unique massage therapy. We train our students to feel tension. The best Shiatsu therapists in Japan, a country with a history of thousands of years of massage, were usually blind, their emphasis is about feeling what the body is telling them. This shows the importance of learning to feel with your hands rather than see with your eyes or over analyze with your mind and it is this that you will be trained to do on our courses.
We teach people to find a tight muscle and then we show the students that muscle tightness does not exist as a single muscle or tight spot but exists as a whole band or meridian of tension that can run from head to toe. Our students learn how one point along a band needs to be loosened in order for the next point to let go, and so on.
This makes the style of bodywork we teach a holistic style, emphasizing the inter connectedness of the body, mind and soul. We also demonstrate the Eastern medical approach, that in some people emotional stress can have a physical manifestation and, by getting rid of this physical manifestation, we can alleviate or get rid of that emotional stress.
It is this unique style which makes up the core teachings of our school and which you can learn in our Raynor Massage Certificate Course and our Raynor Massage Diploma Course.
The 5 day Raynor Massage Certificate Course is the foundation course for all of our teachings and knowledge of Raynor Massage Therapy. After completing this course, you will be able to do an excellent treatment that could range from a light, gentle, nurturing treatment to a very deep tissue type of massage that will leave your most stressed-out client with the feeling that a whole layer of stress and tension has been lifted from their shoulders.
Our Raynor Massage Diploma Course has the first 5 days of the Certificate Course, plus 5 more days of specific teaching, practical experience and applying our techniques. We include a full day of learning the art of Reflexology, which is foot or hand massage that has a reflex action on other areas of the body and a full day of Aromatherapy. Aromatherapy oils, which are 100% natural essential oils mixed in with base massage oils, enhance the benefits of the massage experience and we will teach you how to tailor them to the individual client's needs.
• Are you eligible to enrol in our short massage course?
Because we keep our terminology easy to understand and we follow teaching methods that make advanced bodywork techniques easy to understand and very hands-on, there are no pre-requisites for the Certificate level massage course. The Diploma course follows on from the Certificate and it is possible to do them at different times by completing the Certificate course and later coming back for the last 5 days of the Diploma course.
We design our massage courses to be more mature-age oriented vocational courses. They are designed for people with busy schedules. The classes are great for busy working or family people who don't have time to take years out of their schedule. They are ideal for people who live a long way from a city and don't want to commute every day for years to a large city massage school.
We also get a lot of course participants who just don't want to spend a long time learning a basic massage style when a more effective style such as ours can be learned in a much shorter period of time.
The majority of participants in the course are aged 18 to 60 and have some experience of life behind them, but we accept students from 16 until 80. There is usually a balance of males and females in most classes.
We specifically design our courses for people who want to get started with their new massage career as soon as possible and with as little interruption to their lives. Our courses are designed to have a practical approach to massage training rather than an intellectual approach. The best massage is done from the heart through the hands rather than through the head. We teach massage the way we would have liked to have learned it, without all the filler subjects that many massage schools consider compulsory in their training methods
Our teacher in Munich, Germany, Craig Burton, demonstrating massage techniques
We believe that all massage therapists should be able to deliver high quality treatment. Historically there have been many different approaches to both the practice and teaching of massage. For example, Thailand is world-recognized as a place where massage is a way of life. In both Thai and Hawaiian massage, it is not knowledge of body terms in Latin that makes a good massage therapist, but the spirit of the heart (or Aloha in Hawaiian) which is the prime ingredient of a good massage therapy treatment and the ability to tune into the more subtle aspects of the person. In other words it is all about feeling rather than thinking in these styles. Particularly in the US and Canada, the massage industry has become over regulated in a movement led by those who run more bureacratic type Western style massage schools. Brandon Raynor has been a strong world-wide voice opposing bureaucratic over-regulation of the art of massage therapy knowing that world-wide there is a huge variety of highly effective massage techniques. He led a campaign in 2006 called the Freedom Ride to keep health freedom and deregulate the massage industry in the United States
In almost all the world-wide locations we teach in, graduates of our school will be able to get professional indemnity and malpractice insurance to cover them when they are practicing. They will also be able to join the International Natural Therapies Association, receive a free newsletter, and receive a listing on the INTA website.
We invite you to look through our school's website and contact us with any questions you may have.
We are constantly updating our courses and add new classes regularly. We hope you enjoy looking through our website, meanwhile don't just take our word for it, read the testimonials of some of our graduates and feel free to contact them if you have questions, or if you live nearby someone who has been trained by us, visit them for a massage so that you can experience this powerful treatment for yourself!

It takes many techniques from Swedish, Remedial and Deep Tissue Massage as well as techniques from Oriental massage styles such as Shiatsu, Tui Na, Thai Massage and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage.
